Shapes and lines that create beauty from functional simplicity fascinate me. Creating such beauty in photos, in wood/canvas canoes, in writing, and in designing ecological research challenge me. The shapes and lines may be physical, as in photos and on canoes, or may be conceptual, as in writing and designing research. I seek to communicate fresh perspectives and new possibilities, to find what is big in something small or what is small in something big, and to understand how the backside becomes the front side when seen from a different direction. I do not always know where I am going but I never feel lost.
