Andy Messerschmidt

Andy is a painter and percussionist and owns the Ornamental Hermit Studio in downtown Ely. He received his MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Andy has shown paintings in New York at Plane-Space Gallery for seven years and continues to have shows in the United States and abroad: Germany, Japan, Greece, Kansas City, Philadelphia and Minneapolis. His ongoing Agroccult series is a body of over 900 landscape paintings depicting geomancy and metaphoric stimulation of the Earth's nervous system through acupressure applied by humans. Andy plays percussion in several local bands. He offers personalized instruction in painting, drawing and percussion.
